The Toy Box Coffee Club gathers every weekday morning at 9:00 to solve the world's problems. While no one is exactly sure how long the Club has been meeting, they have been coming to the Toy Box since 1980 and met at the Town House Restaurant before that.
Membership is limited to gentlemen who are, or once were, living in and around Danville, Kentucky. No particular state or stage in life is required and the only fee involved is a contribution of $0.50 to the coffee fund each day. The honors system is in place.
Participation in discussion is optional, but advised in self defense. No topic is off limits, however comments regarding technology may be made only on Wednesdays.
The Club has several field trips each year. In the spring and fall a golf and dinner outing is held at the Danville Country Club. During the summer, the members gather for a cookout and boating party on Herrington Lake at the home of one member.
With this full calendar of social commitments it is hard to imagine the members have time for much else. However, the club members are truly active in numerous community, church and educational organizations. Habitat for Humanity and Dollars for Scholars are just two of the projects a number of the members support with countless hours of volunteer time.
There are no specific membership rules. It is suggested a visitor come with a friend the first time to be properly welcomed and acclimated to the procedures.
